Anthony Thevenet Chénas

Anthony Thevenet Chénas

France > Burgundy

Sustainable, Organic, and Biodynamic

Anthony Thévenet's Chénas is a beautiful red wine from the Beaujolais region in France, crafted exclusively from Gamay grapes. The vineyards are situated on granite bedrock and topsoil, providing a unique terroir that contributes to the wine's character.

In the glass, this wine presents a vibrant ruby hue. The nose is greeted with aromas of red fruits, such as raspberry and strawberry, complemented by subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of fruit and minerality, with flavors of ripe red berries and a touch of spice, leading to a smooth, elegant finish. The wine's structure is supported by soft tannins and a refreshing acidity, making it a versatile companion to a variety of dishes, including veal, pork, poultry, pasta, and cured meats.

Thévenet employs traditional winemaking techniques, including whole-bunch carbonic fermentation without the addition of sulfites until just before bottling, and aging in used barrels and large 600-liter demi-muids. This meticulous approach ensures the preservation of the wine's purity and expression of its terroir.
