Château Lestignac, Sémillon Michel Michel

Château Lestignac, Sémillon Michel Michel

France > South West France

Sustainable, Organic, and Biodynamic

Château Lestignac's "Michel Michel" is an orange wine crafted exclusively from Sémillon grapes in the Bergerac region of Southwest France. The estate, managed by Camille and Mathias Marquet since 2008, emphasizes organic and biodynamic farming practices, fostering a diverse ecosystem that includes over 200 fruit trees, 80 chickens, and 20 sheep.

This wine undergoes a meticulous production process, featuring three weeks of skin contact followed by seven months of aging in concrete tanks. This method imparts a distinctive amber hue and complex flavor profile. On the nose and palate, it presents vibrant notes of caramelized and stewed tangerine, complemented by hints of citrus rind, orange blossom, and thyme. The finish is savory with a pronounced mineral character.

"Michel Michel" is produced with minimal intervention, utilizing only indigenous yeasts for fermentation and refraining from additives, aside from a minimal use of sulfur when necessary.

The wine's light to medium body and gentle tannins make it a versatile companion for a variety of occasions. It pairs well with a range of foods, including seafood dishes and creamy cheeses.
