Chateau Palmer Alter Ego de Palmer 2019

Chateau Palmer Alter Ego de Palmer 2019

France > Bordeaux

Sustainable, Organic, and Biodynamic

Château Palmer, a revered estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, is celebrated for its pioneering commitment to biodynamic agriculture. Under the leadership of Thomas Duroux and Sabrina Pernet, the estate transitioned fully to biodynamic farming in 2014, focusing on the vineyard as a living organism and emphasizing the harmonious interplay between the vines, soil, and surrounding ecosystem.

The 2019 Alter Ego de Palmer is an exceptional representation of Bordeaux's Margaux appellation, crafted with a blend of 51% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Petit Verdot. This wine offers an expressive and refined character, presenting a lush and complex bouquet of blackcurrants, cedar, and ripe tobacco, accented by floral notes of violets. The full-bodied palate is characterized by velvety tannins and delivers flavors of sweet cherries, raspberries, licorice, and spices, all underpinned by vibrant acidity and a long, harmonious finish.

The smooth, supple texture, thanks to the high proportion of Merlot, is enhanced by layers of damson fruit, anise, and black pepper, which evolve into notes of gourmet brioche, espresso, and cigar box. Noted for its immediate appeal, this 2019 vintage balances power with elegance, making it enjoyable now while also suitable for aging. Whether paired with roasted meats and hearty stews or savored on its own, this versatile wine offers a truly remarkable experience.
