Domaine du Pégau, Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

France > Rhône

Sustainable, Organic, Biodynamic, and Woman Owner/Producer

Domaine du Pégau's Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is a classic red wine from France's Rhône Valley, crafted from a blend of 13 authorized grape varieties, primarily Grenache (80%), Syrah (6%), and Mourvèdre (4%). The vineyards, located on soils of pebbles, clay, and limestone, contribute to the wine’s rich complexity.

In the glass, it reveals a deep red hue with hints of purple. The nose is expressive, offering ripe black fruits such as morello cherries and raspberries, alongside juniper berries, black pepper, and herbs typical of the region's garrigue. With age, it evolves to showcase plums, dried stone fruits, leather, and sandalwood.

The palate is round and full-bodied, with soft tannins that grow in complexity over time, bringing spicy undertones. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an excellent companion to grilled red meats, lamb with thyme, or bold stews.
