Fasoli Gino Alteo Amarone della Valpolicella 2017

Fasoli Gino Alteo Amarone della Valpolicella 2017

Italy > Veneto

Fasoli Gino's 2017 Alteo Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is a distinguished organic red wine from Italy's Veneto region, meticulously crafted from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. Hand-harvested in late September to early October, the finest grape bunches undergo a traditional appassimento process, resting and drying for over four months in small wooden crates to concentrate flavors. Fermentation spans 25 to 35 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by a minimum of three years aging in barriques, allowing the wine to develop its signature depth and complexity.

In the glass, Alteo reveals a vivid, luminous garnet hue. The bouquet is inviting and warm, with notes of dried fruit, black pepper, coffee, licorice, and vanilla. On the palate, it boasts a full-bodied and elegant structure, delivering an enveloping and smooth experience marked by slight sweetness and impressive volume. The finish is notably persistent, with lingering notes of black plum and anise.

This Amarone's robust profile makes it an ideal companion for rich pasta dishes like risotto all’Amarone or pappardelle with wild boar ragù, as well as grilled red meats, game, and aged cheeses. With an alcohol content of 17.5%, Alteo has the potential to age gracefully for over 20 years, rewarding patience with increased complexity.

Fasoli Gino's commitment to organic viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques is evident in Alteo, offering a harmonious balance between muscular structure and refined softness, embodying the essence of the Valpolicella terroir.
