Sustainable, Organic, Biodynamic, and Woman Owner/Producer
Arianna Occhipinti's Siccagno 2020 is an exceptional Nero d'Avola from Sicily, Italy, reflecting the island's rich winemaking heritage. The grapes are sourced from 35-year-old vines situated at 280 meters above sea level, rooted in calcareous sandy soils. Cultivated using biodynamic and organic practices, the vineyards are managed without chemical interventions, ensuring a pure expression of the terroir.
In the glass, Siccagno 2020 presents a deep ruby hue. The nose is greeted with aromas of ripe plums, black currant, and spices. On the palate, it is refined yet vigorous, offering a complex and enveloping experience with a lovely freshness.
The wine undergoes fermentation in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, with a maceration period of approximately 25 days on the skins. It is then aged for 24 months in 30-hectoliter Austrian oak barrels, followed by an additional two months in the bottle, allowing for a harmonious integration of flavors and a balanced structure.
Siccagno 2020 pairs excellently with red meats, game, and mature cheeses, enhancing the dining experience with its depth and elegance.
Arianna Occhipinti's dedication to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking is evident in this wine, offering a genuine representation of Nero d'Avola and the unique characteristics of the Sicilian landscape.
